LMPsrl Uses Synergy 3000 to Reduce Scrap by 20%

Located in Castello se Cisterna Italy, LMPsrl manufactures magnetic solenoids. LMPsrl develops, produces, and customizes solenoids according to customer specification and distributes them worldwide. “We are an original equipment manufacturer for solenoids, said Fedele D’Alessandro, General Manager for LMPsrl. “A solenoid is a coil of wire, usually cylindrical, in which a magnetic field is set up by passing a current through it. We are known for tailoring production to the customer’s requirements. Sometimes this includes co-design of the product, Just-in-Time production, and Kanban initiatives, etc.”
Due to the global nature of competition, LMPsrl began looking for a Statistical Process Control (SPC) software. “To remain competitive in the global marketplace, we decided we needed to increase the quality of products we manufactured while reducing costs and time to market,” said D’Alessandro.
When they were evaluating software products, they had particular criteria in mind. “When we were looking at SPC software solutions, we were impressed by Synergy 3000’s collection and tracking of production data. We did not find this in similar software solutions,“ said D’Alessandro. “We selected Synergy 3000, because we knew we would have one dashboard where we could see the entire quality process.”
After implementing Synergy 3000, LMPsrl found they could eliminate waste in their processes. “Since using Synergy 3000, we have reduced our scrap rate by 20%,” said D’Alessandro. “We now know where we had waste in our process, realistic values to base our key performance indicators on, and how to improve our margins.”
LMPrsl has also seen Synergy 3000 assist in training new employees. “We have found the software to be easy-to-use and straightforward. Using Synergy 3000, we are easily able to train our junior operators who do not have any SPC experience,” said D’Alessandro.
Since implementing Synergy 3000, LMPrsl has seen some positive changes to its business. “Because we are acting on real Cp, CPK values, we have a better understanding of the production process and can make the right adjustments in real-time,“ said D’Alessandro.
Because of their success, LMPrsl has expanded its use of Synergy 3000. “In 2012, we began to use the Web Operator and the Web Manager applications with our sister companies in China and Bulgaria as well as with our main suppliers,” said D’Alessandro.
